Making Equity Real: Creating Career Pathways and Good Jobs in the Arts

We are excited to invite you to “Making Equity Real: Creating Career Pathways and Good Jobs in the Arts” an event on Wednesday, February 28th at the Frances Perkins Building in Washington, DC in honor of Black History Month.

 

The Department of Labor will host a discussion celebrating this year’s national theme of Black History Month, “African Americans and the Arts” focused on the importance of good jobs, equity and job quality in the arts, particularly for Black workers. In this conversation, we’ll address the critical role that unions play in achieving equity for workers of color in this industry.

 

The event will include remarks from Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, National Endowment for the Arts Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, Ph.D., a panel of working artists, performers, and leaders, and more! In addition to a speaking program and panel, this event will feature artistic presentations and an opportunity to network and mingle with individuals playing a role in moving this work forward.

When: Speaking program 1:00 – 2:30 PM ET, art gallery and mingling 2:30-3:00 PM ET on Wednesday, February 28th
