College Signing Day!

On May 1st White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities celebrated and recognized college signing day, continuing the tradition to celebrate students going to college the same way we celebrate athletes and celebrities. Since the start of college signing day, there have been well over 1,000 College Signing Day events in almost all 50 states, along with the many others we believe that education deserves to be celebrated. Today we want to feature some future students who have chosen to attend some our nations HBCUs.

Future HBCU: Howard University
Major: Psychology

“I felt it was very important for me as a black man who will face many challenges to be rooted in culture of positivity and success. A structure is only as good as the foundation in which it is rooted and this rich institution is the best pillar for a bright and meaningful future.” – Bryce

Future HBCU: Morgan State University
Major: Biology

“I selected this HBCU because it has many things to offer as I continue to grow and expand my academic horizon. It’s not too far from home but far enough to get a real taste of independence.”- Ja’Nayah

Future HBCU: Morgan State University
Major: Psychology

“I applied it to many universities including Towson, UMBC, Bowie but got rejected and gladly Morgan state accepted me. I heard that Morgan had a great psychology field and it really interested me. Being rejected from every college besides Morgan made me think, what if this is the school for me. I’m happy to say that I will be one of the 3 in my family to attend a University!”- Beatriz

Future HBCU: Coppin State University
Major: Computer Science
“I chose Coppin State University out of the many other schools I’ve applied to throughout my senior year because not only is it one of the affordable schools in Maryland, but it’s many different programs- such as criminal justice, biological sciences, sports and health information are of interest to me. I told my parents that I was really interested in the Coppin State and after the college tour, we felt it would be a good fit for me. We loved the way the campus looked and how there were so many people of color. I am so excited to attend this HBCU!” – Isha

La’Shaun Cole
Future HBCU: Benedict College
Major: Biology

“The reason I chose this HBCU and the reason I am going is because this HBCU gave me the most money to go to their school but also, I already wanted to experience the culture and the people. From what I see on T.V, I knew I wanted to be a part of it ever since I was little.”- La’Shaun
