African American Women Civic Leaders Education Policy Briefing Establishes African American Women Lead (AfAmWomenLead) Initiative

Following an historical federal agency convening of Black women and girls to address challenges faced in schools and communities, the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans established the African American Women Lead (AfAmWomenLead) Initiative to ensure sustainable, safe and supportive preschool through college completion environments and advance access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). AfAmWomenLead represents nationwide partnerships with organizations pooling their collective impact and networks for a monumental commitment–one million hours of service with Black girls in 2016.
