International Education Week 2017

International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the U.S. Department of State is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences.

Calendar of IEW Events at ED

The Role of Global and Cultural Competencies in National Security and Diplomacy
Please join us on November 6th for a special event in the lead-up to IEW, which will include a series of TED-style talks and a panel moderated by Maureen McLaughlin, Senior Advisor to the Secretary and Director of International Affairs. The event will take place from 10:00-12:00 and will also be live streamed.

Adding a Global Dimension to Your School or Classroom
The Department of Education — in collaboration with the Title VI National and Language Resource Centers for international and foreign language education at The George Washington University, Georgetown University and Howard University — invites you to a workshop for K-12 teachers and administrators wishing to help their students develop the global and cultural competencies critical for success in the 21st century.

The workshop will take place on Monday, November 13th, 1:00-4:00pm, at the U.S. Department of Education, 400 Maryland Avenue, S.W., Washington, DC. Seating is limited.
