A Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution (NASNTI) is an institution of higher education that at the time of application is an eligible institution under section 312(b), has an enrollment of undergraduates that is not less than 10 percent Native American students, and is not a Tribal College or University. NASNTIs are not controlled by tribes, but rather a university that serves a percentage of American Indian and Alaska Native students.

NASNTI Title III Part A and Part F provides many grant opportunities to Native American-Serving Nontribal Institutions (NASNTIs). Overall, awarded grants assist in planning, developing, undertaking, and carrying out activities to improve and expand NASNTI institutions’ capacity to serve Native American students. Just some of these grants fund activities such as: purchasing, renting, or leasing scientific or laboratory equipment or educational instruction and research; renovating and improving classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and other instructional facilities; curriculum development and academic instruction; and purchasing library books, periodicals, micro-films, and other educational materials.
