Healthy Engaged Youth (HEY!) Kickoff Webinar

The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, the White House Initiative on American Indian and Alaska Native Education, the White House Initiative on Education Excellence for Hispanics, the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans, and the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities will host a webinar with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday, August 8, from 3:00-4:00 PM EDT about Healthy Engaged Youth! (HEY!), a youth-driven initiative to engage and educate fellow youth and community members about the new options for health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace.

Young people and people from racial and ethnic minority populations are less likely to have health insurance.  It’s important for these uninsured individuals to be informed about the new Health Insurance Marketplace so they can get enrolled and covered for health care. Moreover, youth can play an important role in educating their peers and uninsured community members on how to get enrolled when the Marketplace opens on October 1.

Join us for this interactive session to learn how to serve as a HEY! Ambassador and help get fellow youth and community members informed about the Marketplace. This webinar will also provide an overview of the Marketplace and how the Affordable Care Act helps young people and diverse populations.

If you would like to participate, please RSVP by emailing WhiteHouseAAPI@ed.gov with your name and affiliation (i.e. college/university, student group, organization) by Wednesday, August 7, 2013.
