Joseph Mais, Senior Policy Advisor

Joseph Mais works on policy issues related to Federal Student and the Office of Postsecondary Education including loan servicing, collections, and student complaints. He served as Senior Policy Analyst and Director of the D.C. office for The Institute for College Access & Success, a national non-profit that advocates for improving student outcomes and opportunities in post-secondary education. Prior to TICAS, he worked for several years as Senior Counsel to Congressman Raul Grijalva from Arizona. There among other things, he managed the Congressman’s portfolio for the Education and Workforce Committee. Joseph began his focus on education policy as a social studies teacher at Presidio High School in Tucson, Arizona. He attended the University of Arizona and received his J. D. from Georgetown University.
